Jianfu Temple is a famous Buddhist temple with a history dating back to the Tang dynasty (618-907). It is most famous for the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, which is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site that commemorates the Silk Road, one of the earliest and most important routes to connect the Far East with Central Asia. The Chang’an-Tian-shan corridor runs through Chang’an (Xi’an) in the Shaanxi province of northwest China. Jianfu Temple was originally the residence of Emperor Zhongzong of the Tang dynasty (deceased 684 AD) before he became the emperor. The Morning Bell, a 10 ton iron bell hangs in the bell tower of Jianfu temple and a replica is available for tourists to ring.
