Stoke Bus Station, Stoke on Trent, United Kingdom. Architect: Grimshaw, 2013. General canopy view at dusk.

The character and landscape of surrounding Hanley has been a strong source of inspiration for the design of Grimshaw’s Stoke on Trent City Centre Bus Station, which represents a significant step in the redevelopment of the city centre. As the site faces South-East, it introduced the prospect of a new building which traced the movement of the sun, and of passengers waiting for their transport within a covered, well-lit space that offered spectacular views.
