Augustin Ehrensvärd Memorial sculpture on the island of Suomenlinna (Sveaborg), Helsinki, Finland. The tomb of Field Marshal Augustin Ehrensvärd (1710-1772) in the Courtyard on Susisaari, Wolf island. The central character in the history of Suomenlinna is Augustin Ehrensvärd, director of the fortifications of Suomenlinna for three periods. Besides being a competent soldier, Ehrensvärd was a skilled draftsman and painter, whose art can be seen in Suomenlinna in many formats. Sveaborg Ehrensvärd the fortifications led from the start in 1748. He was praised, but also criticized, for example, some creative technical solutions in the fortification. The criticism was partly due to the fact that after Ehrensvärd was quite independent. Neglecting the office fortification in making decisions regarding Sveaborg caused some bitterness.
