Lava based cliffs said to be 7,000 years old form the bed for the Godafoss waterfall in the Bardardalur District in Northeastern Iceland. The waterfall translated into English means Waterfall of the Gods. It is formed by glacier water from the Skjálfandafljót River flowing over volcanic rocks and falling about 40 feet to continue its journey. The falls are located between Akureyri and Lake Myvatn.
