Johnson, Eric Johnson and George Wittbold, with Fred Tredup driving Mr. Johnson's Packard, spent a day at the Eandall furniture factory m St Louis and drove 385 miles to Chicago August 19. F. M. Johnson spent Sunday with his family and started in the car August 21 for Traverse City, Mich. Ed. Jacobs appeared at the store Aug- ust 21, but could not find his desk, as the entire establishment had been re- arranged while Mr. Jacobs was in the Deaconess hospital for an operation for appendicitis. He has recovered rapidly, but has not yet regained his strength. Arthur M. Anderson returned to duty August 21. He was taken ill while driving with a party to Kansas City and spent five days in bed in a hotel at Des Moines. William Abrahamson went from Kan- sas City to Knoxville, Tenn., on the call of A. J. McNutt, who is opening a new store there and wanted expert advice regarding the fixtures and arrangement. In the cut fiower department recent receipts have included quantities of large, long-stemmed asters from the J. W. Jung Seed Co., of Randolph, Wis. Eric Johnson considers the stock su- perior to any other outdoor asters reach- ing the market and the Jung Seed Co. is preparing to issue a special aster catalogue for florists, to obtain a wide distribution for the seed. Various Notes. Returning from his holiday in Europe, S. J. Pearce looks to have been greatly benefited by the first real rest he has had in years. He found most of trade interest, as is natural, in Holland. Busi- ness is extremely active there just now. He found that the approach of the ship- ping season has revealed shortages in many items, the crop being below the average, and exporters are hustling to find the bulbs with which to fill orders taken here in the first
