The name spicata given to this species is in accord with the con- spicuous array of spike-like processes in the external genital structure of both male and female. Length of fore wing: male 15-18 mm.; female 18-21 mm. Fore wings with base colour very light brown, not the rich, golden brown of spicata; fore wings uniformly covered with darker brown reticulations, but usually not as dark as in spicata; the contrast.
