Felton, North Somerset, UK. 29th August 2019. Climate crisis campaigners from Extinction Rebellion and local residents stage a protest on the main A38 road outside Bristol Airport. The protest began at Felton Village Hall, the nearest community to the airport, at 6pm to catch the rush hour and is a collaboration between local residents unhappy at Bristol Airport’s expansion plans, and climate crisis campaigners from Extinction Rebellion’s Chew Valley group. Council planners in North Somerset are yet to decide on the planning application, but the project has the backing of the Mayor of Bristol, Marvin Rees. Bristol Airport has ambitious expansion plans which will increase its capacity to 12 million passengers every year.
