The apples should cook for about fifteen min-utes, until they are quite soft and the water ispartly boiled away, leaving a syrup. Take a coarse sieve or strainer, put 1 table-spoonful of butter in the bottom of it, and strainthe applesauce into a bowl. Push it through the strainer with a spoon ifnecessary. Set the bowl in a cool place, and serve theapple sauce cold with milk or cream. 10 .WHEN MOTHER LETS US COOK BEADY RULE This rule above all others heed:—Have ready everything you need.
