Coast Guard Mercy Mission Saves Seaman. Put over the side by their ship, the crew of a naval motor launch moves toward a Coast Guard flying boat to transfer a stricken sailor for a flying trip to a west coast hospital. The seaman, suffering an appendicitis earlier had been removed from an American submarine to the naval craft somewhere in the South Pacific. A radio message brought the Coast Guard plane, which was piloted by Lieutenant Commander Larry L. David, of Colman, Street, New London Conn.
