Heads of Two Horses and a Charioteer, New Kingdom, Amarna Period, Dynasty 18, ca. 1353–1336 , From Egypt; Probably originally from Amarna (Akhetaten); Probably from Middle Egypt, Hermopolis (Ashmunein; Khemenu), Limestone, paint, H. (8 3/4 in); W. (10 1/2 in); Th. cm (1 1/2 in), Numerous representations of horse-drawn chariots are included in the official scenes at Amarna. Both the king and queen are shown driving themselves in what appears to be a mad dash to the Great Temple, their subjects racing behind, as in a block at the lower right
