The coughbecomes chronic;tubercles form in thelungs, increase in size as the disease ad-vances, soften and are removed, in the actof coughing, in the shape of a liquidresembling pus; abscesses and cavitiesare formed in the lungs; the surroundingtissue is decomposed, blood-vessels arebroken, and the heart pumps the bloodthrough the lung substance to the Consumption is dangerousin consequence of the character of the. tissue invaded. It is in its early stages!!only, that the disease can be successfullytreated.
