Birch Smooth barked trees and shrubs native of Europe, North America and Asia, usually vigorous and upright; branches slender and drooping; foliage ather small, graceful and dainty; will thrive in any soil, even though of poor quality. Betula alba. 'White European Birch.' Europe. Tree medium to large with white bark on the older limbs and trunks; branches of a drooping habit; growth irregular but robust.
