Our Heroes on the Somme (Kinema Budapest, 1917). Art by Imre Foldes. One of the first propaganda films ever made. It was the Germans response to the British film The Battle of the Somme, made a year earlier. The Germans feared they were losing the propaganda war when the British film was released, so they hurried this film into production using recreated battle scenes alongside actual footage in an effort to show the war from the German perspective.
