Genesis rock from the Moon. This sample of moon rock was collected by the Apollo 15 astronauts from the Hadley-Apenninie area of the Moon. This is a sample of anorthosite a type of igneous rock. Anorthosite is responsible for the pale appearance of patches of the moon. Apollo 15 launched on 26 July 1971. It was the fourth mission to land on the moon. Photographed in the Non-Sterile Nitrogen Processing Line in the Lunar Receiving Laboratory, Houston, Texas, USA.
