Mont Blanc Express metre gauge train alongside a standard gauge French railway coach
The Mont Blanc Express metre gauge train waits on a parallel track to a standard gauge (4ft " 1600mm) French railway coach. While the standard gauge track is equipped with a 25 kilovolts AC overhead supply the third rail that supplies the Mont Blanc Express with 850 volts can clearly be seen. In stations this rail is covered with wood to act as a railway workers.
