In this species the prominences on the skulls of adult boars areflat-topped, and do not reach above the line of the nose ; the colour isalways some shade of rufous, either shining brownish red with a tingeof yellow, or dark reddish yellow with black on the forehead, ears, andlimbs, and the mane of the back, part of the margins of the ears, thetips of the long tufts of hairs with which they are surmounted, andstreaks above and below the eyes white.
