A celebratory cake for the centennial anniversary of the 85th Support Command sits with a saber waiting to be cut on July 9, 2017 at Arlington Heights, Illinois. The unit is noted by many to have a very storied past dating back to World War I when it was first formed as the 85th Infantry Division at Camp Custer, Michigan. The unit celebrated its 100th anniversary in conjunction with the relinquishment of command for Brig. Gen. Frederick R. Maiocco Jr., Commanding General, 85th Support Command. Maiocco served three years as the commander of the 85th Support Command.
