Clara Southmayd Ludlow (1852-1924), US entomologist. Ludlow's career in the 1880s was as a music teacher. She graduated from Mississippi Agricultural and Mechanical College in 1900. Following a trip to Manila in the Philippines, she began studies of mosquitoes and military medicine, with most of her work carried out at the Army Medical Museum and George Washington University. She was a member of the American Society of Tropical Medicine. This photograph dates from between 1905 and 1945. It is from the Harris and Ewing Collection, which mostly consists of photographs taken in Washington DC, USA.
