B. Yates Machine Co., Limited, Hamilton, Ont. This is what is known as a 30 in. machine, and is made in three models —No. 830, No. 930 and No. 1030—which are designed to drive, respec- tively, eight, nine and ten nails at one operation. As the name implies, an opening has been provided in the back through which the stock may be passed, enabling cleats to be attached anywhere on the shooks. Extreme distance possible between nails is thirty inches, and may be driven as close together as 1% inches. The driving chucks are attached. New Open Back Nailing Machine. in two rows, enabling the nails to be driven in one or two rows, as desired. As equipped the machine will handle nails from 1*4 to 2 in., but special feed discs may be had for other sizes. A clinching device is provided for clinching the nails in batens on cleated boxes. If the nails are not required to be clinched, this device may be rendered in- operative. Suitable gauges are furnished for holding the work in various positions. Special gauges have been designed to gauge the cleats when nailed on the ends of the shooks. While it has been de- signed primarily for belt drive, provision has been made whereby it may be quickly changed to motor drive. The recommended speed is 500 , and the power required is five horsepower. Pembroke Company Are Tutting Many Ties W. H.
