The photograph depicts Major F. B. Garrett and other officers of the 1st Battalion, 4th Brigade, 5th Marines, 2nd Division. They are on their way to a rest camp near Bois de Belleau, France. The battalion has suffered losses and received two replacements. The image was taken on June 17, 1918, by Corp. Sheehan. It was approved by the Censor on July 2, 1918.
