HARBOR, Hawaii – (May 17, 2018) Sailors assigned to the submarine tender USS Emory S. Land (AS 39) deck department operate a rigid-hull inflatable boat during a training evolution in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, May 17. Land is in Hawaii for a scheduled port visit. Land and USS Frank Cable (AS 40), the Navy’s only two submarine tenders, both homeported in Apra Harbor, Guam, provide maintenance, hotel services and logistical support to submarines and surface ships in the 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operation.
