A band of musketeers at the Geneva Escalade celebrations. L'Escalade, as it is called in French, are celebrations commemorating the defeat of an attack by the Duke of Savoy on the city of Geneva on the night of 11th-12th December 1602 The celebrations are held on the closest weekend to those dates. Genevans dress up in costumes of the time and parade through the streets of the old city to the sound of pipes and drums.
