September 11 Twin Towers attacks. These impacts were made by passenger aeroplanes hijacked by terrorists on 11 September 2001: American Airlines Flight 11 (red) and United Airlines Flight 175 (purple). Both were Boeing 767 aircraft that departed from Logan Airport in Boston. They impacted the North Tower at 08:46 and South Tower at 09:03 respectively. The resulting debris trajectories are shown. The fires that broke out in the buildings caused them to collapse at 09:59 (South Tower) and 10:28 (North Tower). Many people evacuated safely (white arrows), but 2606 in the buildings and the surrounding area were killed.
