His father was em-ployed in the porcelain manufactory, but dyingwhen his son was only seven years old, he left himto the care of his mother, and of a relative, , who was the Keeper of the PorcelainMuseum. Madame Troyon was a skilful artist infeathers, and made beautiful little artificial birds,resplendent with gems, for the decoration of ladiestoilettes.
