Cro-Magnon skull. The Cro-Magnons were early humans (Homo sapiens sapiens) that inhabited parts of Europe from about 50,000 years ago. They are famed for their cave paintings, tool-making and sculpturing skills. They are considered to be the ancestors of modern humans. This skull was found at Abri Pataud, France, and has been dated at around 22,000 years old.
