BEAUMONT, Texas (AFPN) - A patient is carried aboard a C-141 Starlifter here Sept. 22, during the evacuation of residents before the arrival of Hurricane Rita. Airmen from the 433rd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, and the 183rd AES from the Mississippi Air National Guard conducted the evacuation. The evacuees were from regional hospitals, nursing homes and the local community. Air Force, Coast Guard and Navy aircraft airlifted nearly 2,000 patients and residents.
