A cavalry officer's sabre M 1861, formerly owned by Prince Ernst August, Duke of Cumberland, Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg, as hussar general, circa 1870 Pipe-backed blade of real Damascus steel, yelmen on the obverse with the crowned ruler's monogram "FJ1", maker " Hausmann, Hofschwertfeger, Wien". Openwork steel bar hilt, ray skin grip, the wire wrap slightly flawed. Plain steel scabbard. Signs of age. Length ca. 102 cm. Worn piece in good condition.
