Withstands heat better than others of this type and is slower to bolt. * BLOOMSDALE SAVOY, LONG STANDING, 42 Plant large, uniform, erect and sturdy, with dark green leaves, highly crumpled. * GIANT NOBEL (Giant Thick Leaf), 45 Plant vigorous and spreading; slow to bolt, and a heavy yielder. Leaves large, thick, smooth, pointed with rounded tip; medium green, tender. * HOLLANDIA (Prickly Winter), 39 More attractive and productive than the old Prickly Winter. The leaves are large, broad, arrow-shaped, and dark green. Popular in Hybrid spinach highly resistant to downy mil- dew or blue mold HYBRID spinach has been developed by Dr. H. A. Jones, and seed of the first in a series, at present identified as Hybrid No. 7, is being grown in the 1955 Asgrow crops. It has considerable hybrid vigor, the large, upright plants developing rapidly. The leaves are large, with savoying about midway between Virginia Savoy and Viroflay. Hybrid No. 7 is highly resistant to blue mold, or downy mildew, though a few plants may not be so. Other hybrids immune to blue mold, and differing in plant and leaf type, will follow shortly. * OLD DOMINION, 40 Resistant to mosaic and of long standing character.
