A German war chest, circa 1700. Rectangular iron chest with dense iron strap fittings. In each field an ornamental rivet with a star-shaped stud. False keyhole with elaborately pierced decorative fitting on the front. Hinged lid with covered central keyhole and two hasps. The inside featuring an intricate mechanism with ten latches. The pierced cover plate with the image of a double-headed eagle in gold and silver bronze. Two movable carrying handles on the sides.
