Mendota, Illinois, USA. An old steam locomotive, 2-8-2 Mikado class engine, preserved on the grounds of the Union Depot Railroad Museum adjacent to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe mainline tracks. The museum is headquarterd in the Union Depot in Medota, whose platform still serves passengers of Amtrak trains that stop at the community. The locomotive was owned and operated by the Chicago Burlington & Quncy Railroad which through mergers, eventually becamepart of the Burlington Northern and later the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway. The locomotive was active in the area through 1961 and is on load from the LaSalle County Historical Society who obtained the locomotive in 1965.
