Polar cubs playing with their mum CANADA CUTE polar bear cubs can be seen playing in the snow with mum. These images have captured these ten-week-old cubs stepping out of the den and experiencing snow and sunlight for the very first time with their mother. Polar bear cubs only weigh around a pound, and they are some of the smallest babies in the animal kingdom compared to the mum's size. A mother?s milk is over 30% fat, so they nurse the cubs plenty to help them gain weight quickly. These amazing pictures were taken by Buddhilini de Soyza (41), an Australian investment consultant and also a wildlife photographer. She used a Canon 5D Mark IV camera with a 400mm f4 lens and a converter - a small lens that increases the focal length range of a lens by a factor of ?I was elated to capture such a rare occurrence,? she said. ?This was the first time I had ever seen a polar bear, and to see mums with such tiny cubs was such a privilege despite the harsh conditions we were exposed to. ?Coming from a country where the temperatures very rarely go below 0C, we didn?t know what to expect with such crazy negative numbers, -50C. ?We had the correct gear, but nothing could have prepared me for this weather. We were suffering, and there were times when I thought my fingers were going to fall off. ?But we survived and got some amazing experiences and pictures to ENDS
