The Royal Navy during the Second World War A Fairey Barracuda II (P 9926) from Lee-on-Solent Fleet Air Arm Station, with torpedo, in flight. The Fairey Barracuda torpedo bomber is a combination of dive and torpedo bomber, and is the newest to come into service with the Fleet Air Arm. The wooden plane that steadied the torpedo before it struck the water and broke off can be clearly seen at the rear of the weapon.
