Mrs. Boswell disagreed, saying she had examples of varius in her collection, which were different from the Pemba shell. It is true there is a resemblance between the latter and eucoronatus; but there is considerable difference between the axial plications cut by spiral grooves into narrow (axially) oblong nodules of eucoronatus and the prominent rounded nodules shown in Sowerby's figures of varius. The Pemba shell agrees with the latter. The fragment from off O'Neil Peak ( A8660) has the oblong nodules slightly broader than in the type and the other specimens; but does not really resemble Sowerby's figures of varius.
