A pretty variety, having light canary yellow flowers with an orange blotch at the base of each petal, form- ing a Maltese cross in the center. The flowers measure from 33^ to 6 inches in diameter; they have very large overlapping petals, often delicately waved at the edges. They are beauti- fully and variously formed; some are flat and wide open, some saucer-shaped, others very deep with flaring edges. In some the orange blotch almost suff"uses the whole flower, in others it runs into the yellow in fine penciled lines, others again have an orange center with a margin of clear yellow ~,.-5c 297 Finest Mixed. All colors 25c oz. 5c (See Acroclinium, Ammobium, Gomphrena, Helichrysum, Rhod anthe and Xeranthemum.) strong growing annuals suitable for beds of tall growing plants or mixed borders; the flowers are inconspicuous; the foliage, however, is exceedingly ornamental. 298 Heterophylla. (Annual Poinsettia, Mexican Fire Plant or Fire on the Mountain.) An annual bushy plant, with highly orna- mental leaves, which in summer and autumn become blazed with a darker fiery red scarlet, so that only a tip of green is left.
