Tests of a o2-inch bell magnet with the voltage somewhatirregular and using 20 amperes, the maximum voltage being■^20 gave the following results as the lifting capacity withdifferent kinds of material: Sand cast pig, 700 to 1,350. Novi Incandescent Lamp. The Novi incandescent lamp is designed to meet the de-mand for an incandescent lamp that will withstand more than the ordinary amount of hardusage. Owing to the shape offilament utilized the end-on ortip candle-power is in excess ofthat developed by a lamp con-taining the ordinary oval fila-ment. As will be seen from illus-tration, a most efficient fila-ment support is obtained withbut one anchor. This supportis formed by a small glass col-umn extending from the plati-num seal to a point a little be-low and between the outer por-tions of the filament this point a metal wireextends a like distance belowthe lower portion of the cen-ter coil. Through this methodof construction, a maximumdistance between the leading-in wires and the point of sup-port is secured and the great-est rigidity obtained. It is impossible for the fila-ment to droop and touch theglass or for the coils to becomeentangled and short-circuit. Thevibration
