The factory, hit for the first time during the war, was said to be producing small arms munition and also believed to be turning out approximately 1,000 anti-tank and 3,000 to 5,000 hand grendaes daily. B-29 SUperfort crews of the Japan-based 98th Bomb WIng used accurate electronic aiming methods to drop their 140 tons of bombs on the target. The arsenal, 1,350,000 square feet in size, consisted of many buildings of steel and reinforced concrete. SUrrounding the factory were bunkers and ammunition stores catacombed in nearby hills.
