Site of the Terrace Coal Mine at the West Coast town of Reefton on New Zealands South Island. The mine is owned by Crusader Coal.
Site of the Terrace Mine owned by Crusader Coal in the West Coast town of Reefton. The company, owned by 3 Australians and 2 New Zealanders, bought the mine from the state owned Solid Energy in 2011. The mine was later mothballed, the company citing high production costs. The mine made the news in February 2015 when there was a roof collapse. Nobody was in the mine at the time. When this image was taken in January 2019 there was no sign of either life or coal production. Terrace mine was originally a drift mine but Crusader had said it would use pioneering methods to extract the coal.
