The world famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, Torre Pendente, the most visited attraction in the north Tuscan city of Pisa.
The world famous Leaning Tower of Pisa was started in 1137 and almost immediately started to lean due to the sub-soil. Various attempts were made over the centuries were made to correct and stop the lean. The latest was in 1990 when it was shut to the public. It was reopened in 2001. Today visitors can climb the 297 steps at a disorientating 5 degree angle. From the top there is an excellent view of the Duomo and the rest of the city.
