Xylocaine anaesthetic packets. Xylocaine is the brand name for the local anaesthetic lignocaine (here called lidocaine on the label). Anaesthetics numb the nerves and prevent pain during medical examinations, treatment or surgery. Here, the anaesthetic is in liquid form for injection, combined with adrenaline. Adrenaline is a vasoconstrictor, reducing blood flow and therefore prolonging the local effect of the anaesthetic.
