River Irwell reflections portrait from Irwell Street Bridge to Irwell Footbridge, Albert Bridge, Trinity Bridge, Manchester, UK

View upstream, from Irwell Street Bridge, towards the River Irwell Footbridge, stone and brick skew arch Albert Bridge, dating to 1844, with a bridge arch 33m (110 ft) wide, and carrying Bridge Street across the River Irwell, so connecting Salford and Manchester. Beyond the bridge rises the white pylon of the 1995 Trinity Footbridge. The Mark Addy Public House, at Stanley Street, on the Salford bank of the river (left of shot), beyond the River Irwell Footbridge, is son-named after local man, Mark Addy (1838-1890), who was famous for rescuing over 50 people from the River Irwell, in those days heavily polluted by factory effluent and raw sewage. The Lowry Hotel rises centre background. The Ralli Quay Government Building (housing the offices of HM Customs and Excise, Crown Prosecution Service and the UK Border Agency) overlooks the Salford bank of the river (left foreground). The Spinningfields Left Bank Apartments rise right foreground.
