Gaillakdia Grandifloea. Gaillardias are among the showiest and most effective of hardy perennial plants; begin- ning to flower in June, they con- tinue one mass of bloom the entire season; they will thrive in almost any position or in any soil, but respond freely to liberal feeding; being perfectly hardy they require absolutely no protection, taking care of themselves. The flowers are large, from 2\ to 3£ inches in diam- eter; they are produced on long stems and are ex- cellent for cutting, and of the most gorgeous color- ing. The centre is dark red brown, while the petals are variously marked with rings of brilliant scarlet crimson, orange and vermilion, and often a combi- nation of all these colors in one flower. One of the most attractive features in our Herba- ceous grounds during the past two summers was a bed of some 2000 square feet of these gorgeous Gaillardias, which even during the past dry summer were a mass of bloom continually. Strong clumps for immediate effect, 15 cts. each, $ per doz., $ per 100. Strong young plants, which will flower freely this summer, 10 cts. each, $ per doz., $ per 100. Hibiscus, "Crimson Eye.'* ASTER GRANDIFLORUS. This is practically an unknown plant, and has not been in cultiva- tion for many years. It is undoubtedly the finest of the genus, and one of the best fall flowering perennials in cultivation. It is distinct from every other known species, both in habit, color, size of flower and the marvellous way in which it flowers. The color is a rich violet blue, with flowers 2 inches across. 50 cts. each, $ per doz. BOCCONIA CORDATA. A noble hardy perennial, beautiful in foliage and flower, and admirably adapted for planting in the shrubbery borders, centre of beds, and in bold groups in almost any position. It is a
