[Daily trips are made fromPalatka here by a small steamer.] Lake Georgeis twelve miles long by seven miles wide, andis a beautiful sheet of water. Its wooded shoresand sparkling depths make the journey across itonly too short. Between Volusia Bar (135 m.),the site of an early Spanish mission on the rightand Zindar Landing on the left, the river againsuddenly narrows, and the scenery is like theformer reaches. Astor (139 m.) is on the right bank. [Abranch of the A. C. L. Railway to Fort Mason. u u U< #
