Avicenna


Miniature from a provincial herbarium of the 14th century. Illustration of Avicenna (Ibn Sina), a philosopher born in Isfahan hear Bukhara in 980, who died in Hamadhan in 1037. His medicine, anatomy and pharmacy books were translated from Arab to Latin by Gerardo da Cremona and taught in the universities during the Middle Ages. His most famous medical text was "al-Qanun (Canon)". Florence National Library.
