In 68 he was promoted to be cashier and steam-ship accountant at the same station. In 71 we again findMr. Earls at Toronto, as chief clerk to General Freight AgentStevenson, and when that gentleman removed his head-quarters to Montreal, Mr. Earls accompanied him and re-mained in the same position up to 1875. From 75 to 77he was assistant general freight agent of the Eastern Divisionwith office at Montreal. From 77 to 84 he was AssistantGeneral Freight Agent of the Western Division, w
