In-stead of a drop forging, bicycle bronze is usedin its construction, which is fully equal instrength, it is The sides of the Turner clamp are of gradu-ated thickness, being slightly tapered fromthe centre to the ends. This shape puts thestrength where it ought to be and makes aperfect bearing, so that when the clamp iscompressed, it tightens up evenly all aroundthe tube. This construction makes a tighterclamp on the fork stem, it is claimed, thanis possible to get with any drop forging. Another excellent feature is the ball andsocket bearing of the bolt and clamp, whichprevents the head of the bolt breaking off,as often happens with the drop forgingclamps. The shoulder on the bolt and coun-terbore of the clamp are on the same curve,thus making a perfect seat, stronger andmore durable than the drop forging and per-mitting the bolt to be tightened up snugwithout breaking.
