171107-N-JK586-003 STENNIS SPACE CENTER, Miss. - International students participating in the Patrol Craft Officer - Riverine course at the Naval Small Craft Instruction and Technical Training School participate in react to fire drills at the Stennis Space Center. Students representing Chad, Niger and Cameroon are currently participating in the inaugural Lake Chad Basin Initiative at NAVSCIATTS facilities focusing on combatting trans-regional terrorism threats and furthering interoperability between partner nations. NAVSCIATTS courses of instruction being conducted in support of the initiative are Patrol Craft Officer Course-Riverine, Outboard Motor Maintenance and Overhaul, Diesel Systems Overhaul and Maintenance, Technical Welding and Applied Repairs, International Technical Communications Course, International Small Arms Maintenance and the Strategic Leaders International Course. While NAVSCIATTS courses are typically conducted in English and Spanish, Lake Chad Basin courses are being conducted in French, with translation support being provided by special operations forces from France, Canada and Belgium. NAVSCIATTS is a Security Cooperation schoolhouse operating under United States Special Operations Command in support of Foreign Security Assistance and Geographic Combatant Commanders’ Theater Security Cooperation priorities. NAVSCIATTS trains and educates Partner Nation special operations forces, SOF-like forces and SOF enablers across the tactical, operational and strategic spectrums through in-residence and Mobile Training Team courses of instruction.
