A courtly hunting hanger,1st half of the 19th century. Single-edged blade with fuller,etched,blued,and gilded with trophies,leaping roe deer and vines. Finely decorated,gilded hilt. A reclining red deer stag with two does on the simple guard plate. Dark horn grip scales with acorn shaped decorative rivets. Black leather scabbard,with gilded mountings elaborately worked in relief,containing the by-knife. The chape is inscribed "Schatz in Würzburg".
