SCOTTISH REGIMENTAL SERIES ROYAL SCOTS - View of Athelstaneford. The home of Sir John Hepburn, later Marechal de France, who was empowered by King Louis XIII of France to embody a regiment composed of the numerous independent companies of Scotsmen then serving in the French Army, together with recruits raised in Scotland by the authority of King Charles I of Scotland. This regiment is known as Le Regiment d'Hebron, or Hepburn's Regiment. It was recalled to service in Scotland by King Charles I in 1662, and became later known as the Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment), British Army
