Trade has been rather brisk for the last week or so. There has been quite a demand for funeral work and it has created a shortage, especially on mums and carnations; there have not been enough of either and there was a scram- ble October 10 for stock of any kind. We have had a couple of frosts, which no doubt are responsible for part of the increasing demand for indoor stock, as about all of the outdoor stock is badly damaged. Boses are fine and nearly plentiful enough to meet the demand, outside of Ophelia and Sunburst. Beauties are rather scarce, with the demand not heavy. Carnations are improving daily, but the stems are still a little short. They have cleaned up daily. Mums are coming in more plentifully and find a good demand. They are still a little green, but do nicely in a pinch. The leading varieties are Pa- cific, Estelle, Chrysolora, Halliday and quite a few Early Snow. Valley has been scarce of late, with demand rather heavy at times. Lilies are a little more plentiful, with demand about equal to the supply. There have been few potted mums as yet, with a great many calls for them. Bulbs are moving nicely and it looks as though the demand will be about as usuid. Various Notes. Sherman Stephens is getting along nicely and puts in some of his time again at the old stand, where he re- ceives the congratulations of a host of friends. He has had a long, hard ill- ness. Mr. Clark, in charge of the flower department of the Green-Joyce Co., re- ports trade as good. J. M. BEADING, PA. The Market. Business continues to improve, largely because of weddings and parties requir- ing the better grade of stock. Funeral work is lively.
