Carroll, L,aura , and Charlotte A. defray the cost of this building,with its seats and fixtures, $13,,two hundred and fourteen personscontributed. Other gifts were re-ceived, such as plans for the build-ing, pulpit furniture, parlor chairs,desks, clocks, andirons, etc., to thevalue of about S675. The LadiesSocial Circle provided parlor andother outfittings to the amount ofabout $630. The choir-room was. Dea. Joseph T. Sleeper. equipped by use of part of the pro-ceeds of a chapel concert. This car-ries the total outlay above $15,000. In October, 1898, one of the mostinteresting and successful of the three-days annual meetings of the. Amer- ican Association was heldin the South church,—a meetingwhich was made possible here by theenlarged buildings.
